Does this ever happen to you... Let's say you're reading an article, or having a conversation with someone, and a point is made, and expounded on, that everyone goes "wow, right on, excellent point!" and suddenly it hits you "hmm... that is exactly what I said (or wrote) 3 months ago" - and yet it went ignored. Your point goes virtually ignored, then someone else comes along and makes the same point, even uses the same logical argument to dive into the point, and people are all over the conversation. For whatever reason, it happens to me alot. I used to think it was a blow to my pride ("hey I already made that very deep point!") and I was just being a self-absorbed toad. The more I questioned why it bothered me, the more I realized it WAS pride, but the other kind. Not the kind that says "give me credit because I crave to make my name known", it was the pride that said "I already said that, and clearly you were paying no attention to what it was I had to say - I guess I must be invisible". Both forms of pride, in that "me" is the center of the reaction. The first form is loud and obnoxious, the second form is hurt feelings because your contribution was ignored. Tough stuff.
Kevin is trying to make me crazy... last night, first he turned on Jack Van Impe, who was preaching out of the Roman Catholic catechism (no, I am not joking), then he had on some guy named Leon who was on about getting your "God-hookup" (self-esteem garbage), then he watched Peter Popoff who was all jazzed up about his miracle spring water from Russia that cures everything from aids/hiv to multiple personality disorder. Is it any wonder the world looks at Christianity and laughs? These guys are downright embarassing. Jesus said if the world hates you, it's because they hated Him first. He never mentioned "if the world laughs at you"... because they weren't laughing at Him, He was taken seriously, and even though hated, He did command respect, because of who He is, and how He conducted Himself. He wasn't known for his fancy-dan hairdo and clothing or corny, used car salesman catch phrases. He was and is, hated for the truth He dared to speak. These guys on tv are not hated for truth, they're mocked by the world because they're frauds, and even the lost can see it. Sadly, they DO represent modern day Christianity. (All the more reason to stand for the truth, and speak boldly, and often, as He leads).
see this guy? He's my new pal. His name is Berean Guy, and he has a few more friends. There's Mr. Ugh, and Sir Cheesy Grin, as well. I see these guys in pop up ads all the time. I think I might use them from time to time to comment on the mood I'm in. Apply Berean Guy to the paragraph above.
I think most of us here are 90% over this horrid stomach virus we came down with last week (anyway I sure hope so)... so today it's back to school work, and back to regular chores & errands - that is IF the freezing rain stops. I looked out this morning and saw Martin Sheen's brother Dull Sheen across the snow in the driveway. Dull Sheen means "ice rink on the roads & highways". Bad idea to drive in that, unless you actually enjoy doing 180's into oncoming traffic.
So I'm outta here, I have a date with a large bowl of oatmeal & a stack of books. Oh, and before I forget:
Happy Valentines Day! ![]()
